Taliban spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said the attack was in retaliation of the killing of their members by police and Rangers in Peshawar, Karachi and other areas, reported Geo News.
The spokesman said the Taliban would continue to carry out such attacks in their defence until a ceasefire was announced.
On Thursday morning, more than 40 policemen were injured - 13 of them dying of their injuries later - in an explosion targeting a police bus in Razzakabad area near the city's Police Training Centre.
Senior Superintendent of Police Malir Rao Anwaar said the evidences indicate that a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the police bus carrying more than 50 personnel. They were on their way to discharge their duties.
