Two of the
eight accused of robbing and gang-raping a 51-year-old Danish woman were
arrested here on Wednesday evening, Delhi Police said.
Mohd. Raja,
22, hailing from Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, and Mahendra alias Ganja, 25, from
Maharashtra, were arrested by the police from central Delhi's Shivaji Park
area, Deputy Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar said.
"Both
are vagabonds ... the hunt for the rest of the six accused is on," added
Kumar.
According to
police, the victim's i-pod, earplugs, spectacle case along with a Nokia mobile
phone worth Rs.1,200, bought from the victim's looted money and Rs.1,800 in
cash have been recovered from the duo.
He further
said the victim's medical examination would be conducted in Denmark.
The woman,
who came to India on Jan 1, had gone to visit a museum on Tuesday but lost her
way to her hotel in Paharganj, a tourist hub in the heart of Delhi.
She was then
lured by the group of men who robbed and raped her near the New Delhi railway
station, police said.
